As I look upon the sunset
As I look upon the sunset,
The evening path that the sun takes
Its decent into the void,
Into nights cold dark embrace
I wonder if I'm alright,
If I could set and dim my light?
All that has come pass today,
Will be erased by endless night
As I close my eyes and feel the dark envelop me,
I see stars and think
Surrounded by blackness, they still shine their light,
A lonely hopeful beacon, in spaces endless night
I wonder how much darker the universe would be,
If all those hopeful little stars gave it up with me
What if our own star, the sun gave up its daily beat?
Where would we be without its life sustaining heat?
If I stopped trying to shine,
Who would I leave in darkness?
And thought the sun may set,
The next day it will always rise in newfound brilliance
To share his light with others
And though the night is dark,
There will always be the light,
Of all his celestial friends, to help him through the night
As I look upon the sunset, I know that Im alright.
